Special Report about our visits to the Green Card Lottery
Mail-Processing Center in Lexington, Kentucky
For the past two years we been traveling to the Lottery Mail-Processing Center in Lexington, Kentucky to hand deliver Lottery applications. If you wish that we hand deliver your application, just inform us and we will be happy to do so. We toured the facility, spoke with Mr. Phil Lykins (picture below) the Visa Lottery Coordinator and some of his staff. Every year we learn more about the operation of the program and how they handle applications at the center.
At the Kentucky Consular Center, all mail received on time will be individually numbered. After the end of the application period, a computer will randomly select entries from among all the qualified applications received for each geographic region. Within each region, the first letter randomly selected will be the first case registered, the second letter selected the second registration, etc.
Only one application per person. The name, birth date, country of birth and photo of every applicant is entered into a central computer. The computer will detect if there is more than one entry from the same person. Lottery officials will disqualify all duplicate entries.
The process of sorting and data entry takes around four months to complete and the drawing begin in February. |
